CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

Code R071 is an internal DERM fault and sets when any of the following conditions are detected: 1) DERM power supply reserve voltage charge or discharge time failure for three consecutive ignition cycles; 2) DERM is unable to read from or write to EEPROM; 3) 'DRIVER'S 36VLR' or 'PASSENGER'S 36VLR' is greater than 38.7 volts for 500 milliseconds.

1. 'Turn-on' tests active

1. Tested continuously

TEST CONDITION(S) #3

1. Tested every 100 milliseconds during 'Continuous Monitoring'

FAILURE CONDITION(S) #1

1. DERM power supply reserve charge or discharge time failure for three consecutive ignition cycles.

OR

FAILURE CONDITION(S) #2

1. DERM is unable to read or write to EEPROM.

OR

FAILURE CONDITION(S) #3

1. 'DRIVER'S 36VLR' or 'PASSENGER'S 36VLR' is greater than 38.7 volts for 500 milliseconds.

ACTION TAKEN

1. DERM turns on the 'INFLATABLE RESTRAINT' indicator.

2. 'SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATAI3LE RESTRAINT' message is displayed on DIC.

3. Current Code R071 remains set until no internal DERM faults are detected for 500 milliseconds.
