Trunk Lid/Tailgate Release

Purpose

The Trunk Lid Release allows the trunk to be opened by using the Trunk Lid Release Switch, located in the glove box, or by using the Keyless Entry Transmitter, if the car has the Remote Keyless Entry System.

When the Trunk Lid Release Switch is depressed, the switch applies power to the solenoid, energizing it. With the solenoid energized, the plunger retracts, pulling back the release lever in the lock assembly. This releases the trunk lid from the striker.

Operation with the Remote Keyless System is the same except that the Keyless Entry Module's terminal C1 applies power to the solenoid when the transmitter is operated.
