A/C - Overheat, A/C Compressor OFF (Intermittent)

INTERMITTENT "A/C OVERHEAT, A/C COMPRESSOR OFF" MESSAGE AND AC CODE A049 (REPLACE ACP UNIT)

1993 CADILLAC ELDORADOS
1993 CADILLAC SEVILLES
Condition:
Some owners may experience a condition of intermittent "A/C overheat, A/C Compressor Off" message and ACP code A049 usually on hot restart with the auto mode selected on the ECC.
Cause:
Software calibration problem.
Correction:
To repair this condition perform the following procedure:
1. Ensure the condenser is free of obstruction (i.e., dirt, debris, bent fins, etc.). Clean if necessary.
2. Verify operation and rotating direction of the cooling fan.
3. Enter diagnostics and record (AD99) the ACP PROM I.D.
If the ACP PROM I.D. is not 9807, remove the ACP and order a replacement ACP, P/N 16199718. The PROM I.D. of 16199718 ACP is 9807.
Reinstall the ACP.
If the ACP PROM I.D. is 9807, follow the diagnostic procedure of "Code A049".
NOTE:
The ACP is a remanufactured unit and it has a core charge. Please return the core unit to GMSPO through the normal core return procedure.
Parts are expected to be available on October 25, 1993.
