Some owners may comment on a "Low Oil Level" message appearing in the Driver Information Center although the engine contains the adequate operating quantity of engine oil. Review the following information with the vehicle owner if the "Low Oil Level" message is periodically displayed.

1. For correct operation of the "Low Oil Level Sensing System," the vehicle should be on a level surface. A false "Low Oil Level" message may appear if the vehicle is parked on a grade.

2. The oil level sensing system does not check for actual oil level if the engine has been off for a short period of time.

3. The oil level is never sensed while the engine is running.

4. If the "Low Oil Level" message appears and the vehicle has been parked on level ground with the engine off for at least 30 minutes, the oil level should be checked using the oil dipstick.

Prior to checking your oil level, be certain the engine has been off for 5 minutes and the vehicle is on a level surface, add oil if necessary. Refer to the service information manual index under "engine oil" for further information.
