Instruments - Incorrect Wording of Driver Info Messages
Group Ref.: Chassis/Body ElectricalBulletin No.: 318112
Date: October, 1993
SUBJECT:
INCORRECT WORDING OF DRIVER INFORMATION MESSAGES (INSTALL EXCHANGE CLUSTER)
MODELS:
1994 CADILLAC CONCOURS
1994 CADILLAC DEVILLES
1994 CADILLAC ELDORADOS
1994 CADILLAC SEVILLES
Condition:
Some owners may experience incorrect wording of three driver information messages. Although the message wordings are incorrect, these messages are not false. A problem must be present for any of the messages to set, therefore diagnosis must be performed as if the message wordings are correct. These messages are:
"CHECK OIL LESS" SHOULD BE "CHECK OIL LEVEL"
"STOP ENGINE, LOW OIL WAIT" SHOULD BE "STOP ENGINE, LOW OIL PRESSURE"
"WAIT ONE MINUTES" SHOULD BE "WAIT ONE MINUTE"
Cause:
This condition may be caused by the IPC calibration PROM (software).
Correction:
To correct this condition enter on-board diagnostic and record the IPC PROM I.D. (ID99).
If the PROM I.D. is other than 0267, remove cluster from I/P per Section 8C of the Service Information Manual and install an exchange cluster from a GM authorized exchange center.
