Cuts Out/Misses

DEFINITION:
Pulsation or jerking that follows engine speed, usually more pronounced as engine load increases. The exhaust has a steady spitting sound at idle or low speed.



Check Powertrain System, if not already completed

Check Fuel System, looking in particular for:

- Fuel Injectors:
- Not Operating
- Low Flow Rate

Check Ignition System, looking in particular for:

- High Resistance, Open, Shorted, or Arcing Spark Plug Wires, crossfire between spark plug wires

- Contaminated or Damaged Spark Plugs

- Faulty Coil Pack or IC Module


Check for the following mechanical causes:
- Valves Sticking in Guides
- Broken or Weak Valve Spring
- Collapsed Lifter
- Camshaft Worn
- Erratic VSS Readings
- Erratic Engine RPM Readings
