Dual Pole Arming Sensor
WARNING: The diagnostic energy reserve module or sensing and diagnostic module (DERM/SDM) can maintain enough voltage to cause air bag deployment for up to two minutes after the ignition switch is turned off and the battery is disconnected. Servicing the SIR system during this period may result in accidental deployment and personal injury.1. Disarm system as described in Air Bag System Disarming & Arming.
2. Remove glove compartment from instrument panel, then the passenger's side air bag module as described under Air Bag Module.
3. Remove two screws and one nut retaining radio to bracket.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors and coax cable from radio chassis, then remove radio chassis from bracket.
5. Remove two radio bracket attaching screws, then the bracket.
6. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA), then disconnect sensor electrical connector.
7. Loosen two sensor retaining bolts, then remove the sensor.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. After completing installation, rearm system as described in Air Bag System Disarming & Arming.
b. Turn ignition key to the On position and verify the AIR BAG or SIR warning lamp flashes seven to nine times, then turns off. If warning lamp does not operate as specified, refer to System Diagnosis.
