Road Sensing Suspension (RSS)
ROAD SENSING SUSPENSION (RSS)Fig. 1 Road Sensing Suspension (RSS) System.:
DESCRIPTION
The Road Sensing Suspension (RSS) systems, controls damping forces in the shock absorbers and struts in response to various road and driving conditions.
The system is capable of making these changes within 10-15 milliseconds. The sensing module receives the following inputs; vertical acceleration, wheel-to-body position, vehicle speed and lift/dive. The sensing module evaluates the input data and uses it to control the solenoid valves in each of the dampers independently to provide varied levels of suspension control.
The system also controls the Speed Sensitive Steering (SSS) system and Electronic Level Control (ELC) system. The SSS system changes driver steering effort based on vehicle speed. The ELC system maintains proper vehicle trim height under various vehicle loading conditions.
