A/C Blower Motor - Whine Noise

HVAC BLOWER MOTOR NOISE (INSTALL INERTIA DISC SERVICE KIT)
MODELS:
1994 CADILLAC ELDORADO, DEVILLE, CONCOURS AND SEVILLE
Condition:
Some owners may comment on a blower motor whine noise that varies in frequency as motor speed changes. This noise should not be confused with normal air rush noise which also can be heard and varies in intensity as motor speed changes.
Cause:
The whine noise is Induced by the motor-created torque, amplified by the fan motor mounting and vehicle structure.
Correction:
To repair this condition, install inertia disc service kit, P/N 22137062 (see illustration).
REMOVE -
1. Electrical connector at blower motor.
2. Three (3) screw and washer assemblies, ONE AT A TIME, from cover assembly and discard.
IMPORTANT!
DO NOT push inward when removing the last screw or the motor could be pushed out of the cover assembly.
INSTALL -
1. Firmly hold inertia plate in position.
2. Hand tighten new screw and washer assemblies.
3. Tighten fasteners to 7 N-m (62 lbs.in.).
4. Electrical connector at blower motor.
NOTE:
Assure spark plug wires are routed a minimum of 25 mm (1 inch) from the motor exterior surface. Failure to do so may result in premature motor failure.
