Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The electrical brake switch is used to inform the PCM of brake pedal status. The PCM uses this signal to de-energize the TCC solenoid when the brake pedal is applied.

OPERATION
The switch is normally closed when the brake pedal is not applied. When the pedal is applied the switch will open, changing the signal to the PCM.

LOCATION
The brake switch is located on the brake pedal mounting bracket.
