Electrical/Garage Shift Test
NOTE: This test should be performed before a hoist or road test to ensure electronic control inputs are connected and operating.1. Shift to Park, set parking brake, then start engine.
2. Press WARMER and OFF buttons (located on CCDIC) simultaneously and hold until all displays are lit.
3. Proceed to PCM data test level, then verify that the following signals are present:
a. PD01 Throttle angle (TPS).
b. PD10 Battery voltage (Battery).
c. PD11 Engine speed (RPM).
d. PD12 Vehicle speed (MILES/HOUR).
e. PD71 Transaxle pressure switch state (PSM ZYX).
f. PD72 Input speed (TURBINE)
g. PD73 Slip speed (SLIP SPD).
h. PD74 A CURRENT (Actual transaxle pressure control solenoid amperage).
i. PD75 Current error (Current Er).
j. PD76 RATIO.
k. PD77 Transaxle temperature (Trans Temp).
l. PD81 TCC duty cycle (TCC DC).
m. PD82 SHIFT TIME.
n. STATUS LIGHTS.
o. . Engine coolant temperature (Coolant).
4. Monitor transaxle pressure switch (PSM ZYX) signal by moving shifter through all gear ranges. Verify that transaxle pressure switch state matches various combinations for gear Selected. Gear state combinations should be as follows: Park/Neutral 101; Reverse 100; D4001; D3011; D2 111 and D1110. if combinations 000 and 010 are displayed, there may be a problem with transaxle pressure switch and/or its connectors. Shifts should be immediate and not harsh.
5. Shift to Neutral and monitor throttle position signal (TPS) while increasing and decreasing engine RPM with accelerator pedal. Throttle angle should increase with engine RPM.
6. Monitor TCC BRAKE signal while tapping brake pedal. Brake switch should be LO when brake is released, HI when brake is depressed and X means that a change in switch state has been detected.
