Diagnostic Trouble Code Interpretation

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INTERPRETATION
When the ignition switch is turned on the system performs a self-test which lasts 7.5 seconds. The error lamp will be on for this period. After the self-test, the control module may be in Normal Operating Mode, Error Mode or Reset Mode. When the control module is in the Normal Operating Mode the error lamp is on below 10 mph to indicate proper system operation and to verify that the control module is receiving speed information. When the control module is in Error Mode the error lamp is off below 10 mph and turns on above 10 mph. When the control module is in Reset Mode the error lamp is turned off to indicate a control module problem.

Any system error that is active for two successive ignition cycles will cause the SERVICE RIDE CONTROL message to be displayed on the driver information center (except for the accelerometer diagnostic trouble code 32 which is displayed immediately). The message will be displayed as long as the diagnostic trouble code is active. If the diagnostic trouble code corrects itself, the SERVICE RIDE CONTROL message will turn off, but the diagnostic trouble code will be stored in the control module's non-volatile memory.

If a diagnostic trouble code is set, a one second self-diagnosis test is performed at three minute intervals. The error lamp will be on during this test and will go out if the code is corrected. If the fault still exists, the lamp will be off below 10 mph and on above 10 mph.

If diagnostic mode is entered and no diagnostic trouble codes are stored in memory, the control module will continually display diagnostic trouble code 12. System diagnostic trouble codes are as follows:

Diagnostic trouble code 12: Initiation code.
Diagnostic trouble code 23: Left front actuator error.
Diagnostic trouble code 24: Right front actuator error.
Diagnostic trouble code 25: Left rear actuator error.
Diagnostic trouble code 26: Right rear actuator error.
Diagnostic trouble code 31: Lift/dive input error.
Diagnostic trouble code 32: Lateral acceleration switch error.
Diagnostic trouble code 35: Speed-sensitive steering error.
