SYSTEM CHECK

PREPARATION
Before beginning any operation checks, make sure that these components and circuits are working properly:
- Parking lights.
- Low beam headlights.
- Horn.
- Electric door locks.

Make sure the headlights and parking lights are off. Open a window to allow you to unlock the door without using a key.

SECURITY LIGHT OPERATION
The PASS-Key II system controls the "Security" indicator lamp in parallel to the Universal Theft Deterrent System. In normal operation, the PASS-Key II module controls the lamp only when the ignition is "ON". Similarly, the Universal Theft Deterrent module controls the indicator only when the ignition is "OFF". Normal operation for the Universal Theft Deterrent control is discussed below.

With the ignition "OFF", open the driver door. the security light should begin flashing. Lock the doors with the electric switch and check that the security light glows steadily. If it does, get out of the car and close the door. The security light should go out within 6 seconds. When it does, the system is armed.

ALARM ACTIVATION
To activate the alarm, reach through the window and unlock the door. Open the door and the horns should sound and the lights should flash. They should do this for approximately 3 minutes and then shut down automatically. To prevent unnecessary wear on the horns, disconnect the horns when performing the automatic shut down test.

RETURN TO STANDBY
To check that the system will return to a standby condition, close the door, unlock the door with the key, and then open the door The alarm should not sound since the system has been disarmed. Repeat these steps to check the tamper switches and circuitry to each door.

IGNITION DISARM SYSTEM
To check the ignition disarm system, repeat the arming procedures, but remain in the car and close the door. Wait for the security light to go out, indicating that the system is armed. Turn the ignition switch "ON", then "OFF". When you open the door, the alarm should not activate but should be in a standby condition with the security light flashing.
