Chart 1 No Compressor Operation

Diagnostic Chart:

Wiring Diagram:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

The compressor clutch coil is fed power through the A/C relay and is Wounded through the A/C ground (CKT 250).

TEST DESCRIPTION

Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

Before diagnosing further make sure any DTCs are corrected and cleared. An Open Power Steering switch or a faulty Throttle Position Sensor could prevent A/C clutch from engaging.

1. This step checks to see if the fault lies in the output or input side of the PCM.

2. This step checks the A/C relay switch contacts.

3. This step checks to see if the A/C relay is receiving power on CKT 1640.

4. This step checks to see if there is an open in the compressor clutch power CKT 59.

5. This step checks to see if the compressor clutch is faulty or if there is an open in the compressor clutch ground CKT 250.

6. This step checks the A/C relay coil.

7. This step checks to see if there is an open in CKT 603, 604, or CKT 762 not allowing the A/C relay to be closed.

NOTES ON INTERMITTENT CONNECTION
If an intermittent DTC is being set, select Air Conditioning Programmer (ACP) Snapshot Data for DTC and note value of ACP data parameter. Manipulate the related wiring while observing ACP data parameter. If a failure is induced, the displayed data parameter value will be outside the sensors normal operating range.
