P060

Transaxle Range Switch Circuit:

DESCRIPTION
Code P060 will set if the cruise control is engaged and the transaxle range switch is indicating the transaxle is in PARK or NEUTRAL.

DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK
^ The primary purpose of this code is to detect an action of the driver that could cause an unsafe condition or damage to the vehicle.

^ This code can be driver induced by shifting the gear selector into neutral when the cruise control is engaged.

^ A failure of the transaxle range switch may cause the code to set. Check for code PO91.

TEST CONDITIONS
1. Cruise control enabled.
2. Cruise control engaged.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
Transaxle range switch input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) indicating the transaxle is in PARK or NEUTRAL.

ACTION TAKEN
PCM disengages cruise control.

NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS
If Code P060 is stored as a history code select PCM data PD72 and manipulate harness while observing the status of the switch. If the switch changes status while the wiring is being manipulated, repair the intermittent connections. If no trouble is found, explain to the customer that this code can be induced if the transaxle is inadvertently put into neutral while the cruise control is engaged.
