Resetting
RESETTING TRANSAXLE OIL LIFE INDICATOR 4T80-E TRANSAXLEThe PCM maintains a value for transaxle oil life which indicates the percentage of oil life remaining and is calculated based on transaxle temperature and speed. When the vehicle is new, the transaxle oil life is 100%; as mileage accumulates, oil life will eventually decrease to 0%. When the value reaches 1%, the CCDIC displays the message "CHANGE TRANSAXLE OIL".
The oil life indicator should be reset to 100% when transaxle oil is changed or when the transaxle is replaced. Transaxle oil life value should be recorded prior to PCM replacement and programmed into the new PCM. To reset the transaxle oil life indicator, proceed as follows:
1. Turn ignition key On, with engine Off.
2. Enter diagnostics, then select PCM override PS15 (TRANS OIL).
3. Press WARMER button to increase value or COOLER button to decrease value.
An alternate way to reset oil life indicator is as follows:
1. Turn ignition key On, with engine Off.
2. Press and hold OFF and REAR DEFOG buttons on CCDIC until message "TRANSAXLE OIL LIFE RESET" appears on CCDIC.
