Fuel Pump/Fuel Tank Sender Replacement
Fuel Pump Module Exploded View:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Relieve fuel system pressure (refer to FUEL PRESSURE RELIEF).
2. Drain fuel tank (See FUEL TANK DRAINING).
3. Fuel tank. (See FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT).
4. Modular fuel sender assembly (refer to MODULAR FUEL SENDER ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT).
5. External strainer. Use a screwdriver to carefully pry the strainer ferrule off the reservoir. Excessive force may dislodge the jet pump. Note strainer position for later reinstallation. Discard the strainer.
6. Drain pipe from bumper pad.
7. Rubber pad (bumper) and discard.
8. Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from under the cover. Disconnect the under cover wire harness from the cover, and the fuel pump, noting positions for installation.
9. Support the reservoir with one hand and remove the fuel level sensor assembly.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Fuel level sensor assembly.
2. Rubber pad (bumper).
3. Drain pipe to rubber pad.
4. External strainer (as noted during disassembly).
5. Under cover wire hamess (as noted during disassembly).
6. Modular fuel sender assembly (refer to MODULAR FUEL SENDER ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT).
7. Fuel tank (See FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT).
8. Fuel sender electrical connector.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Refill fuel tank.
INSPECT
- Turn ignition switch to "ON" position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position, and check for fuel leaks.
