1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Using a small flat bladed tool, remove defroster grille by prying upward.
3. Remove sunload and headlamp auto control sensors from defroster grille.
4. Remove three upper trim panel attaching screws through defroster grille opening.
5. Remove heater and A/C vents from front of instrument panel by releasing tab on each side from inside of vent and pulling out.
6. Remove four upper trim panel attaching screws through vent openings.
7. Remove upper trim panel from instrument panel.
8. Pull ignition and battery fuses from passenger compartment fuse panel, then the ignition fuse from engine compartment fuse panel.
9. Disconnect two electrical connectors from top of instrument cluster.
10. Remove four instrument cluster to instrument panel attaching screws.
11. Raise cluster to gain access to two PRNDL mechanism retaining screws and remove screws.
12. Remove instrument cluster from vehicle.
13. Remove right and left A/C vent trim panels.
14. Open trap door in rear of glove compartment and remove passenger inflatable restraint wiring connector from retaining clip on rear of glove compartment assembly.
15. Open glove compartment door and remove six glove compartment to instrument panel attaching screws.
16. Pull glove compartment assembly out a little and disconnect electrical connectors from glove compartment switches.
17. Remove glove compartment assembly from instrument panel.
18. Remove right and left sound insulators, Fig. 16.
19. Remove filler trim panel from under steering column by grasping front and rear edges of panel and pulling downward.
20. Remove four steering column opening bracket attaching screws.
21. Remove radio attaching screws and pull radio out a little, disconnect radio electrical connectors and antenna.
22. Remove headlamp switch module by pulling firmly on headlamp switch knob.
23. Remove two hood latch release assembly to instrument panel attaching bolts.
24. Place driver's seat in its' full rearward position.
25. Remove steering column upper and lower mounting bolts, then lower steering column.
26. Remove eight instrument panel mounting screws, then disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors, Fig. 17.
27. Remove shims at lower mounting screws.
28. With assistance from another technician, remove instrument panel from vehicle.
29. Reverse procedure to install.
