Chart 3 Hot Air From A/C Vents/Lack of Cooling
^ CHECK A/C CAPACITY BY:
- POSITION A SHOP FAN IN FRONT OF RADIATOR.
- SET Electronic Climate Control (ECC) TO 60 DEGREES "AUTO".
- DOES SYSTEM PROVIDE SUFFICIENT COOLING AS COMPARED TO A COMPARABLE VEHICLE IN THIS AMBIENT.
- IF NO, REFER TO "REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHECK" CHART 8.
^ DID CONDITION OCCUR FOR OWNER DURING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS (OR COMBINATION):
- HIGH AMBIENT.
- HIGH HUMIDITY.
- EXTENDED IDLE.
- SLOW VEHICLE SPEED.
- TAIL WIND.
THE HIGH SIDE REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SWITCH CAN OPEN UNDER THE ABOVE CONDITIONS THUS DISABLING THE COMPRESSOR WITHOUT SETTING DTCs OR ALTERING ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL (ECC) SETTING AS DESCRIBED UNDER "HIGH REFRIGERANT PRESSURE SWITCH". THIS IS TO PREVENT REFRIGERANT DISCHARGE TO THE ATMOSPHERE FROM THE COMPRESSOR PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE. UNDER EXTREME LOADS THIS CAN OCCUR AND IS A NORMAL CONDITION.
NOTES ON INTERMITTENT CONNECTION
If an intermittent DTC is being set, select ACP Snapshot Data for DTC and note value of ACP data parameter. Manipulate the related wiring while observing ACP data parameter. If a failure is induced, the displayed data parameter value will be outside the sensors normal operating range.
