With the ignition switch in "RUN," "BULB TEST" or "START," battery voltage is applied through Engine Compartment Fuse Block Fuse A3 to the Park/Neutral Position Switch. When the gear select lever is placed in "R", battery voltage is applied to the Backup Lamps. Because the Backup Lamps are permanently grounded at G402 they will remain lit until the gear select lever is moved out of the "R" position.
