Starter Motor: Service and Repair

Starter Motor Wiring Routing:

Starter Motor Mounting:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.

WARNING: Failure to observe step # 1 may result in a injury from hot battery lead at starter solenoid.

2. Raise vehicle.
3. Starter motor shield.
4. Exhaust front and rear pipe assembly.
5. Flywheel inspection cover.
6. Solenoid "S" terminal nut and battery cable nut.
7. Starter motor mounting bolts.
8. Starter motor.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Starter Motor.
2. Starter motor mounting bolts and tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb ft).
3. Solenoid "S" terminal nut and tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb in).
4. Battery cable nut and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
5. Flywheel inspection cover.
6. Exhaust front and rear pipe assembly
7. Starter motor shield.
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Negative battery cable and tighten bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
