Steering Column Shift Lever Becomes Loose (Apply Loctite(R) to Splined Surface of Shift Lever Pin)

Condition

Some owners of the above listed vehicles may comment about a condition whereby the steering column shift lever becomes loose.

Correction





Following the Service Manual procedure in Section 3F, remove shift lever pivot pin. Before reinstalling shift lever pin, apply Loctite(R), or equivalent, to the splined surface to secure in place. Refer to Figure 1, Item 1, for shift lever pin location.

Important: Apply Loctite(R), or equivalent, only to the splined surface of shift lever pin.
