Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

General Description

A permanent magnet motor operates each of the Power Windows. Each motor raises or lowers the glass when voltage is supplied to it. The direction the motor turns depends on the polarity of the supply voltage.

The Power Window Master Switch Assembly controls all of the motor and the Express Down Window Module. All other window switch controls operate only one window motor.

Express Down Feature
The convenient express down window function fully opens the LH front window when the LH Front Window Switch is held down for more than 0.3 seconds then released. If the LH Front Window Switch is held down for less than 0.3 seconds, the window will move down only slightly.

If the LH front UP or DOWN switch is pushed while operating in the express down mode, the express down window module will detect this and open the window motor circuit. The window will stop moving down and will begin moving up if he UP switch is held.

Rear Window Lockout Feature
The rear window lockout feature disables the Rear Power Window Switches. It is a safety feature to prevent children from tampering with the power windows. The Rear Window Lockout Switch is located on the power Window Master Switch Assembly. When depressed, the Rear Window Lockout Switch removes voltage from the Rear Power Window Switches. The Rear Power Window Motors can now be operated only by the Power Window Master Switch Assembly.
