Electrical Diagnosis
SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS- Perform the Pass-Key(R)II System Check. This initial System Check will lead you to three basic PASS-Key(R)II malfunctions:
- Chart #1, "Engine Does Not Crank."
- Chart #2, "Engine, Cranks (With Starter Enable Relay Bypassed).
- Chart #3, "PASS KEY FAULT" indicator Stays "ON."
IMPORTANT:
- Perform the Diagnostic Circuit Check described in Computers and Controls to be certain no trouble codes are stored in PCM memory which may lead to misdiagnosis, specifically Diagnostic Trouble Code 46, indicating a problem in the PASS-Key(R) Fuel Enable Circuit. Powertrain Management
- Check for CCM DTCs 30, 31, 32, 33, 42, and 43. Repair these first after any PCM DTCs.
- Before connecting the Interrogator to the ignition lock cylinder circuit, always verify vehicle key code and set the code into the Interrogator using "key code" knob. This will prevent programming an unprogrammed module with an undesired key code.
