Removal



1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
2. Drain the coolant. See Cooling System.
3. Remove the crossover pipe from the exhaust manifold assembly.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Remove the intake manifold.





6. Remove the secondary air injection hose from the check valve.
7. Remove the engine coolant bleed pipe bolt from the left cylinder head using a backup wrench on the pipe fitting.
8. Remove the ignition coil bolts and the coil.
9. Remove the left exhaust manifold. See Exhaust System.
10. Remove the spark plug wire harness from the clips.
11. Remove the spark plug wire harness from the spark plugs.
12. Remove the spark plugs.
13. Remove the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.





14. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts and the cover.
15. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
16. Remove the cylinder head bolts.





17. Remove the cylinder head and the cylinder head gasket.
18. Discard the cylinder head gasket.
