Removal



1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
2. Drain the coolant. See Cooling System.
3. Remove the accesory drive belt.
4. Remove the accesory drive belt tensioner.
5. Remove the automatic transmission fluid level indicator tube (dipstick tube) from the transmission housing.
6. Remove the air conditioning compressor rear brace bolt from the engine block. Remove the electrical connector.
7. Remove the air conditioner front mounting bolts and lay the compressor aside.
8. Remove the right exhaust manifold.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the alternator.
11. Remove the right rocker arm cover.
12. Remove the intake manifold.
13. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe bolt from the right cylinder head using a backup wrench on the pipe fitting.





14. Lower the radiator hose from the water pump and reposition.
15. Remove the heater hose from the water pump and reposition.
16. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe hose from the radiator.





17. Remove the power steering pump
18. Remove the following parts:

- Alternator Bracket Bolts
- The Alternator
- Power Steering Pump Bracket

19. Remove the spark plug wire harness from the spark plugs.
20. Remove the spark plugs.
21. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
22. Remove the cylinder head bolts.
23. Remove the cylinder head and the cylinder head gasket.
24. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe bolt using a backup wrench on the pipe fitting.
25. Remove the nut and pipe from the cylinder head.
