CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

CKT 1343 is used to turn the "PASS KEY FAULT" telltale "ON" or "OFF." This circuit is monitored by the CCM for faults. By turning the "PASS KEY FAULT" telltale "OFF" and "ON" this is a means of alerting the driver/technician to any PASS-Key(R) II system faults.

DTC WILL SET WHEN

This fault can only be detected when the "PASS KEY FAULT" telltale is not being commanded "ON." This happens after 5 seconds with IGN 1 "ON," and there is no PASS-Key(R) II lock-out or fault set in the CCM that lasts longer than 2 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN

DTC 31 is set in the CCM. The vehicle can start.

DTC WILL CLEAR WHEN

DTC 31 will clear if the fault goes away for 2 or more seconds.

DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION

Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

1. This test checks for normal operation of CKT 40.

2. This test checks for a "steady" "PASS KEY FAULT" telltale.

3. This test checks for voltage at C200 terminal "G7".

4. This test checks for voltage at CCM "C1" connector.

5. This test checks if problem is in CCM or short to ground in CKT 728.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS

An intermittent DTC 31 can be caused by the following:

- Loose or damaged connections at CCM "C1" connector.

- An intermittent open or short to ground in CKT 728

- An operative telltale can be related to an open CKT 40.

- If "PASS KEY FAULT" telltale stays "ON" constantly, check for short to ground in CKT 728.

- The Tech 1 can activate the "PASS KEY FAULT" telltale for a quick check.
