CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) function is used on Canadian vehicles only. When the CCM receives a request for DRL "0N" it grounds CKT 592 at CCM "C1" connector, terminal "A3".
DTC WILL SET WHEN
- CCM is awake, configured as a Canadian vehicle, DRL output is enabled and CKT 592 stays at near battery voltage for more than 2 seconds.
- CCM is awake not configured as a Canadian vehicle, and terminal "A3" stays "high" for 2 seconds or more.
ACTION TAKEN
DTC 36 will set. If CKT 592 is shorted to battery, the DRL functions will not come "ON" as intended.
DTC WILL CLEAR WHEN
DTC 36 will clear if the fault goes away for 2 or more seconds.
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test checks for a short to B+ in CKT 592.
2. This test checks for an internal short to B+ in the relay.
3. This test checks for a low resistance coil in the relay, or defective CCM.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Try performing the test shown while "wiggling" wiring and connectors; this can often cause the fault to appear. Refer to "Intermittents/History DTCs". Intermittents/History DTCs
A Tech 1 can be used to activate the DRL Relay.
