TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

NOTE: Check for CCM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 20 and 21. If these DTCs are present, refer to Computers and Controls, and repair these DTCs first.

1. Check I/P Fuses 8, 19, 21 and Circuit Breaker 2.
2. If Retained Accessory Power (RAP) System stays powered up after RAP has timed out or a door was opened to disable RAP (and RAP did not disable), check for a possible defective always "CLOSED" RAP Power Relay or RAP Wiper Relay.
3. If Windshield Wipers and Radio both are inoperative (in RAP), check I/P RAP BATT Fuse 21.
4. If Trunk Release, Power Windows or Sunroof is inoperative (in RAP), check I/P RAP PWR Circuit Breaker 2.
5. The RAP Wiper Relay will also conduct current to the Radio and Wiper System when the Ignition Lock Cylinder is in the "ACCESSORY" position.
6. Defective Trunk and Front Door Tamper Switches can cause the RAP System to be inoperative.
7. A short to ground on CKT 707 will keep the RAP System "ON." DTC 21 will also set in the CCM.
8. If one relay fails, only part of the system will be inoperative.
9. The CCM selection in the Mass Storage Cartridge has a "RAP Relay Test" Feature. This can only be utilized during the first 5 seconds after the Ignition is shut "OFF."
- Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits maybe intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
- Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
- Refer to individually listed systems.
