Installation

1. Install the new cylinder head gasket with yellow tab facing up.
2. Install the cylinder head over the locator pins and the cylinder head gasket.
3. Coat the threads of the cylinder head bolts with the sealing compound, GM P/N 1052080 or the equivalent.

Cylinder Head Bolt Tightening Sequence:

4. Install the cylinder head bolts finger tight. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence and in three passes to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs).
5. Install the pushrod assemblies and valve rocker arms.





6. Install the right valve rocker arm cover and the bolts. Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
7. Install the spark plugs. Tighten the spark plugs.
8. Install the following parts:

- The Alternator
- The Air Conditioning Compressor
- The Power Steering Pump Bracket

9. Install the alternator bracket.
10. Install the right rocker arm cover.
11. Install the power steering pump.
12. Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe hose to the radiator.





13. Install the heater hose to the water pump and reposition.
14. Install the lower radiator hose to the water pump.
15. Install the engine coolant air bleed pipe bolt to the left cylinder head using a backup wrench.
16. Install the intake manifold.
17. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
18. Install the right exhaust manifold
19. Install the air conditioner compressor rear brace bolt to the engine block.
20. Install the automatic transmission fluid level indicator tube (dipstick tube) bracket to the transmission housing.
21. Install the accessory drive belt and tensioner.
22. Lower the vehicle.
23. Refill with coolant.
