Sensor/Circuit Failure Checks

ECT CIRCUIT FAILURE
A failure in the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) circuit should set either a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 14 or 15. These DTCs indicate a failure in the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit. The proper use of the DTC chart will lead to either repairing a wiring problem or replacing the sensor to properly repair a problem.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES
High Temperature Indicated
If the ECT sensor circuit indicates a high temperature, Diagnostic Trouble Code 14 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (High Temp Indicated) will set. DTC 14

Low Temperature Indicated
If the ECT sensor circuit indicates a low temperature, Diagnostic Trouble Code 15 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (Low Temp) will set. Powertrain Controls - ECM/PCM
