Ignition Switch
Fig. 3 Exploded View Of Ignition Switch, Dimmer Switch And Solenoid:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect steering column from vehicle.
3. Remove solenoid cable from interlock solenoid assembly and solenoid bracket, Fig. 3. Remove ball joint spring.
4. Remove washer head screw, then interlock solenoid assembly.
5. Remove hexagon head tapping screw and hexagon nut, then solenoid bracket.
6. Remove washer head screw, then dimmer switch assembly.
7. Remove dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud and ignition switch, then disconnect ignition switch from wire harness.
8. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Remove plastic pin after switch is assembled to column. Failure to do so may cause switch damage.
b. Adjust ignition switch by moving slider to extreme right position, then move switch slider one detent to left OFF-LOCK position. Install 3/32 inch drill bit in hole on switch to limit travel.
c. Torque dimmer and ignition mounting stud to 35 lb ft, then remove drill bit from ignition switch.
d. Adjust dimmer switch by installing 3/32 inch drill bit in hole on switch to limit travel. Position switch on column and push to remove all lash. Remove drill bit.
e. Torque washer screw and hexagon nut to 35 lb in
f. Torque hexagon washer tap screw to 22 lb in
g. Torque hexagon washer screw to 35 lb in
