Rear Axle Gear Whine (Replace Ring and Pinion Gear Set)

Models:
1994-95 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine, Funeral Coach with 9-1/2" Rear Axle and RPOs V4U, B9Q

CONDITION
Some owners may comment on rear axle gear whine noise. This noise may be detected on a drive or coastdown situation.

This condition will only apply to all 1994 and 1995 vehicles built before the following VIN breakpoint: 702302

CAUSE
This condition may be caused by the rear axle ring and pinion gear set.

CORRECTION
To repair this condition, replace the ring and pinion gear set per the appropriate model year Cadillac Fleetwood Service Information Manual instructions in Section 4B1.

In addition to replacing the ring and pinion gear set, the parts listed illustrated must also be replaced.

After replacing the listed parts, if the vehicle still exhibits rear axle whine noise, contact Cadillac Technical Assistance (1-800-CAD-STAR) or Canada Technical Assistance Center (1-800-263-7740).
