"Battery No Charge" Message

Wiring Diagram:

The IPC monitors the generator L-terminal input on pin "D12". The IPC provides voltage on terminal "D12" and then monitors the voltage. If the generator is not charging, it grounds the L-terminal. If the generator is charging, it leaves the L-terminal ungrounded. The IPC uses this input to determine whether the "BATTERY NO CHARGE" message should be displayed. Whenever the L-terminal input is low and the engine has been running for more than 2 seconds, the IPC will display the "BATTERY NO CHARGE" message on the DIC.

TEST CONDITION(S)

1. Engine has been running for more than 2 seconds.

FAILURE CONDITION(S)

1. Generator charge input (terminal "L") low for 2 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN

1. Display "BATTERY NO CHARGE" message on the IPC Driver Information Center

2. Light "BATTERY" telltale (Export Only)

DIAGNOSIS

With the generator disconnected, check terminal "L" for the presence of the l2V pull up signal from the IPC. If voltage is not present, repair open or short on CKT 225 or a faulty IPC connection at pin "D12".
