Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless Instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

Ignition Coil Replacement: Removal Procedure:




1. Remove the wiper arms.
2. Remove the left and the right side air inlet grilles.
3. Remove the wiper motor.
4. Remove the power brake booster vacuum connection from intake plenum.
5. Remove the spark plug wiring harness from ignition coil.
6. Remove the electrical connection from ignition coil.
7. Remove the bolts from the ignition coil.

8. Remove the ignition coil.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Ignition Coil Replacement: Installation Procedure:




1. Install the ignition coil.
2. Install the bolts to ignition coil.
Tighten
Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

3. Install the electrical connection to ignition coil.

4. Install the spark plug wiring harness to ignition coil.
5. Install the power brake booster vacuum connection to intake plenum.
Tighten
Tighten the power brake booster vacuum connection until snug. Counter hold fitting while tightening.
6. Install the wiper motor.
7. Install the left and the right side air inlet grilles.
8. Install the wiper arms.
