Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors under Powertrain Management / Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Release.

3. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining Procedure.

4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

5. Remove the Fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement.

6. Disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor electrical connector.

7. Remove the fuel feed and the return lines from the fuel sending unit. Refer to Quick-Connect Fittings.

8. Disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor from the sending unit.

Installation Procedure

1. Clean any of the contamination from the sensor mounting area.

2. Install the sensor on the sending unit.

3. Reconnect the sensor electrical connector.

4. Connect the fuel feed and return lines to the fuel sending unit.

5. Reinstall the fuel tank.

6. Lower the vehicle.

7. Add fuel to the tank.

8. Tighten the fuel filler cap.

9. Connect the negative battery cable.

10. Crank the engine for a few seconds. Turn off the engine if the engine starts.

11. Check for any fuel leaks.
