Many conditions that affect radio operation may be corrected without removing the unit from the vehicle. Verify the condition and follow the diagnostic procedure outlined in this section to isolate and correct the condition. If the minor repairs are not effective, the radio should be removed from the vehicle and repaired by an authorized radio repair center. Also, before attempting to diagnose radio problems with the ignition OFF, be sure that the battery is fully charged. Batteries supplying less than system voltage will cause erroneous diagnosis of AM, FM, cassette and compact disc problems.
