Chrome Wheel Care
Chromium plated aluminum wheels have been designed and manufactured to be serviceable and durable for the life of the vehicle providing reasonable precautions are taken to prevent unwarranted damage.^ DO:
- Keep wheels clean using a soft clean cloth with mild soap and water. Rinse with clean water. Air dry or dry using a soft clean towel.
^ DO NOT:
- Use a car wash that has a carbide tipped wheel cleaning brushes.
- Use any cleaner that contains an acid. (This will immediately react with and discolor the chromium surface.)
- Use chrome polish unless it is buffed off immediately after application.
- Apply chrome polish to any painted surface. Use any abrasive metal cleaner.
- Use any oven cleaner.
- Use any abrasive cleaning pad or brush.
- Use any solvents.
- Wire wheel cleaner.
- Steel wool.
- Naval jelly
If it is necessary to remove road tar from the chromium plated or painted surface of the wheel using thinners, make sure that the area treated is cleaned thoroughly with soap and water after the tar is loosened.
