Throttle Body Installation
INSTALLING THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLYImportant:
^ The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor inlet duct must line up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect airflow readings resulting in Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination or a driveability concern.
^ Do Not Reuse the old throttle body gasket.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.
Throttle Body Service:
1. Position the new throttle body gasket on throttle body (2).
2. Install the throttle body (1) to throttle body spacer (3) and finger tighten 2 lower bolts.
3. Install the accelerator cable bracket to throttle body spacer. Tighten the throttle body attaching bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
Throttle Body And Coolant Pipes:
4. Install the throttle body coolant hoses at throttle body and surge tank pipe.
MAF Sensor With Connector:
5. Install the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connectors.
6. Install the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connectors.
Accelerator Cable And Throttle Body:
7. Install the accelerator control cable at throttle body.
8. Install the cruise control cable at throttle body.
Transaxle Shift Cable:
9. Install the transaxle shift cable.
Cruise Control Cable Bracket:
10. Install the cruise control cable to bracket.
11. Install the accelerator cables to bracket.
Transaxle Vent Hose:
12. Install the transaxle vent hose.
MAF Sensor With Connector:
13. Install the MAF sensor/hosing to the throttle body.
14. Install the MAF sensor electrical connector.
Air Cleaner Housing:
15. Install the air intake duct.
16. Install the negative battery cable.
17. Check and add coolant as necessary. Long life coolant must meet GM Specification 6277-M.
18. If a new throttle body was installed, perform the TP Sensor Learn procedure. For procedure, refer to DTC P1526 TP Sensor Learn Not Complete.
