Adjustment

Cruise Control Release Switch And Brake Switch:

ADJUSTMENT
The release switch assembly and the stoplamp switch assembly cannot be adjusted until after the brake booster pushrod is assembled to brake pedal assembly. The cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch are adjusted together. Incorrect adjustment could cause the cruise control system to not work properly. For more information about the stoplamp switch adjustment, refer to Brakes. Brakes and Traction Control

Adjust
1. Press brake pedal assembly and insert release switch assembly and stoplamp switch assembly into retainers until fully seated.
2. Slowly release brake pedal assembly back to its fully retracted position. The release switch assembly and stoplamp switch assembly will move within retainers to their adjusted position.

Measure
The following brake pedal assembly travel distances can be used to check for properly adjusted release switch assembly and stoplamp switch assembly.
^ Release switch assembly and stoplamp switch assembly contacts must be open at 3.5 to 12.5 mm (1/8 to 1/2 inch) brake pedal assembly travel, measured at the centerline of the brake pedal assembly pad. Nominal actuation of the stoplamp switch assembly contacts is about 4.5 mm (3/16 inch) after cruise control switch assembly contacts close.
