Case Cover Inspect and Install/Seal Replace

CASE COVER INSPECT AND INSTALL/SEAL REPLACE 4T80-E TRANSAXLE


^ Tools Required
- J 39062 Turbine Shaft Seal Tool
- J 39648 Drive Sprocket Seal Installer





1. Using the remover side of the J 39062 turbine shaft seal tool, remove the case cover to the turbine shaft seal (3).





2. Using a small screwdriver, remove the drive sprocket seal (34) by tapping the seal out through the slots in the case cover.





3. Using the installer side of the J 39062 turbine shaft seal tool, install the case cover to the turbine shaft seal





4. Using the J 39648 drive sprocket seal installer, install the drive sprocket seal (34)





5. Inspect the case cover mating surfaces for nicks, burrs, or damage.





6. Inspect the mating surfaces and inspect the cooler fitting and inspect the seal for damage.





7. Install the new island gasket (43) and the new case cover gasket (44) over the dowel pins on the case. Pass the wiring harness through the large opening at the top of the case cover gasket. Make sure that the wiring harness remains under the gasket, except for the portion where the connectors are attached.





8. Install the case cover assembly (33). Pass the wiring harness assembly through the opening at the top of case cover. Do not pinch the wires.





9. Install the case cover bolts (45-50), and hand tighten the bolts.





10. Install the two checkballs (65).
