Manual Diagnostic Feature
The Memory Seat Module (MSM) incorporates a diagnostic feature that uses audible sounds heard through the radio speakers. The diagnostic mode is entered by grounding the Memory Seat Module Diagnostic Connector, which is taped to the body harness. The MSM will sound one chime to acknowledge entry into MSM diagnostic mode 1. The Memory Seat Module Diagnostic Connector must remain grounded during testing. For mode 1, all seat switch inputs are tested and all seat movement is disabled. For each switch that is activated, one chime will sound. If a switch is activated and there is no chime, the MSM did not see that input. To enter mode 2 Diagnostics, remove the ground from the Memory Seat Module Diagnostic Connector and re-establish it within 5 seconds. For Mode 2, all position sensors are tested and the seats will move. As a seat is moved, the MSM will test the seat position sensor for a gradual voltage change. For any large change in feedback voltage or no change at all, a chime will sound. This means there may be a concern with the position sensor in the direction the seat switch is being operated. If no chime is heard during Mode 2, the MSM does not see a problem with the position sensors. To exit either diagnostic mode, remove the ground for more than 5 seconds. Three chimes will be heard to acknowledge the exit of the diagnostic mode.
