Engine Block Heater: Description and Operation

Engine Block Heater Element:

Heater Cord Routing:

The heating element for the engine block (option code K05) is installed on the right rear of the block. The heating element heats the engine block by direct contact. It does not come in contact with the engine coolant. The heating element is retained to the engine block with the integral clip that attaches to a cast boss on the block. The power cord has a molded connector that plugs onto the heating element terminals. The cord is routed along the rear of the engine and is retained at the engine lift bracket towards the front of the car. The heating element is intended to be powered by a 110 volt AC external power source. To operate the engine block heater, remove the excess cord from the storage pouch and connect the free end to a standard three prong receptacle supplying 110 volt AC.
