Enabling Afterblow Mode
The afterblow mode can be enabled to prevent reoccurrence of odor complaints. This function is used to remove condensation from the evaporator core following a drive in high Outside conditions. Enabling of the afterblow mode allows the blower motor to turn "ON" 45 minutes after the vehicle ignition is turned "OFF" if during the last ignition cycle the compressor was engaged for more than three minutes cumulative run time. The Outside temperature at ignition "OFF" must have been above 27°C (80°F). The blower will then run three minutes and turn "OFF."
The afterblow mode can be enabled by using a Scan Tool.
1. Connect Scan Tool, select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
2. Select (F4) IPC Test.
3. Select (F0) IPC Options
4. Select (F4) Option 4 (D)
5. Select Afterblow option. Scan Tool "YES" key will turn on option. "NO" key will turn off the option.
Important
The vehicle driver should be advised when this mode is enabled and to explain the mode function and purpose.
