Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The Body Control Module (PZM) will not activate the daytime running lamps feature if the headlamps have already been turned on through the Headlamp Switch or Twilight Sentinel.Battery voltage is applied at all time to the switch side of the DRL Relay "F" at cavity B9. The DRL Relay "F" switch is normally closed at cavity B8 which is grounded to G101. When the Ignition Switch is RUN and the Transaxle is not in PARK, a message is sent from the IPC to the PZM via the Class 2 serial data line to activate the daytime running lamps. When the Ignition Switch is in RUN, battery voltage is applied to the coil side of DRL Relay "F." When the PZM receives a message from the IPC to activate the daytime running lamps, the PZM provides a ground for the coil of DRL Relay "F." The coil is then energized closing the switch contacts to terminal B9. Battery voltage is then applied through the DRL Relay "F," to the LH High Beam Headlamp and the RH High Beam Headlamp, which are in series. Ground is provided to the RH High Beam Headlamp from G101. The LH and RH High Beam Headlamps then light at half intensity because they are in series.
