Ignition Cable: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
NOTE: Pull on the spark plug boot, the heat shield or use an approved spark plug boot removal tool, twisting a halt-turn to release the seal while removing. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or it may be damaged.
Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement: Removal Procedure:
1. Remove the oil filler tube.
2. Remove the A/C compressor hose bracket bolt from engine.
3. Reposition the A/C compressor hose.
4. Remove the bolts from wiring harness channel.
5. Reposition the wiring harness channel.

6. Rotate the orange tool (1) from the storage position, and remove the spark plug boots from spark plugs.

7. Use the spark plug boot remover tool (1) attached to spark plug boot.

8. Remove the spark plug wire harness from routing retainers on valve covers and from ignition coil.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Note the spark plug wire harness routing during harness removal. Improper routing during installation can cause the following conditions:
^ Radio noise
^ Ignition noise
^ Spark plug crossfiring
^ Ground lead shorts
^ Cutting and chaffing of the wires
Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement: Installation Procedure:
1. Install the spark plug wires to ignition coil.
2. Install the spark plug wires to routing retainers on valve covers.

3. install the spark plug boots to spark plugs.
4. Install spark plug boot remover tool (1) to spark plug boot.

5. Position the wiring harness channel.
6. Install the wiring harness channel bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the wiring harness channel bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
7. Reposition the A/C compressor hose.
8. Install the A/C compressor hose bracket bolt to engine.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor hose bracket bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
