Converter Housing Selective Thrust Washer Check

- J 23085-A Selective Washer Gauging Tool





1. Install J 23085-A on the adapter case flange and against the turbine shaft (506).
2. Loosen the thumb screw on J 23085-A.
3. Position the inner shaft of J 23085-A against the thrust service of the overrun clutch housing.
4. Tighten the thumb screw.
5. Remove J 23085-A.





6. Measure gap 1. Compare the measurement of gap 1 to the selective washer table. The selective washer thickness must not exceed the measurement of gap. Refer to the Selective Thrust Washer table under Specifications/Mechanical to compare the measurement of gap 1. The selective washer thickness must not exceed the measurement of gap. End Play should be between 0.1 to 0.8 mm (0.004 to 0.03 inch).
7. Select the proper thrust washer.
