Transmission Case Inspection

NOTICE: Use Transjel J 36850 or equivalent during assembly in order to retain check balls or to lubricate components. Greases other than the recommended assembly lube will change the transmission fluid characteristics and will cause undesirable shift conditions or filter clogging.





1. Inspect the main case (36) for the following:
^ ring groove damage
^ clutch plate lug wear or damage
^ band retaining pin retention

2. Check all bolt holes for thread damage. Use a Heli-coil to repair.
3. Inspect the cooler line fittings (34 & 35) for proper torque.
^ Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

4. Inspect the case to control valve body face for damage.
5. Inspect the case for interconnected fluid passages.
6. Inspect the servo bore for:
^ sharp edges
^ porosity
^ cracks or porosity

7. Clean all of the transmission case components using clean solvent.
