Troubleshooting Hints - Interior Lights Dimming

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM CHECK
1. Make sure the park lamps turn on and off normally before proceeding with the Interior Lights: Dimming System Check. Refer to Exterior Lights for park lamp diagnosis.
2. If only one lamp does not light, check bulb, socket and related wiring (see schematic).
3. Check the rear compartment fuse block CLUSTER Fuse by visual inspection. If open check for a short to ground in CKT 240 (ORN).
4. Check the rear compartment fuse block RLY IGN 1 Fuse by visual inspection. If open check for a short to ground in CKT 1039 (PNK).
5. Check the rear compartment fuse block IGN 0-BODY Fuse by visual inspection. If open check for a short to ground in CKT 147 (LT ORN).
6. Check that grounds G201, G203, G204, G302, and G401 are clean and tight.
7. If the LED for the electronic PRNDL is inoperative or does not dim, check for an open or short to ground in CKT 1382 (PPL/WHT). If OK, replace the electronic PRNDL.
8. Before component replacement, check for poor connections at related component and in-line harness connector terminal connections.
9. Check for broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause a system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
10. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
