Radiator Cooling Fan Temperature Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure- Tools Required
- J 42865 Cooling Fan Temperature Switch Socket
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
3. Remove the upper cooling fan control switch:
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the switch with J 42865.
4. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the lower cooling fan control switch:
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the J 42865.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the lower cooling fan control switch:
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
- Install the switch with J 42865.
- Tighten the switch to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
- Connect the connector.
2. Lower the vehicle.
3. Install the upper cooling fan control switch:
- Install the switch with J 42865.
- Tighten the switch to 22 Nm (116 ft. lbs.).
- Connect the connector.
4. Install the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
5. Fill the cooling system.
